Thank-you and Happy New Year

To all my wonderful blog followers. Thank you for all your efforts when commenting on all my blog posts and encouraging my work.

I would like to let you all know that I am no-longer going to update my blog. There are a few reasons why but mainly time being the biggest factor. I am however going to continue to up-date my Facebook page, if you are on Facebook, log on and follow this link and become a liker of my page:!/pages/Kreative-KAR-Katie-Riddens-papercraft-page/166624910043088

I want to wish you all a very merry and wonderful 2012.

Ours will be full of fun, laughter, challenges, an extention to our family (little 'cashew' is due on 26th Jan Australia day), continue to run our Mechanical business and renovate our house. Here's to a great year for us!!!

One final card (well actually 2):
This one was for 2 (personal) challenges, one with my downline using a new technique we learnt at the WA regionals from the very talented Sarah Klass, and the other challenge was with my sister to use these colours for a Christmas card... I LOVE IT!!!!

We are Uncle & Aunty...

It's official, we are now Uncle & Aunty and Mr 3 is a cousin.

Hubby's sister welcomed a gorgeous little boy into the world mid October. Unfortunately we haven't been able to have cuddles yet as they are on the other side of Australia but hopefully soon we will have the chance.

Hubby organised a gift on-line and got it posted directly to them and I made a gorgeous easel card for them. It measures 12x12cm and could easily be closed up and framed and hung on the wall.

I am in love the colours and really wish this DSP wasn't retired. I don't know if you can see it but there is a little rhinestone in the middle of the pram and all the little dots are coloured blue.

Stampset: Baby Bundle

Card Stock: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Baja Breese, DSP Elegant Soiree (retired)

Bigshot: Timeless Type Junior Alphabet

Punches: 3.2cm & 3.5cm square

Accessories: Satin Ribbon, Rhinestones, Antique Brad, Snail, Sticky Strip

Thanks for feeding the dogs

My gorgeous friend and her daughter feed the dogs while we met up with Mum & Dad for a weekend camping & also to pick up Mr 3.

I was really looking forward to camping as the weather had been nice all week. Pity the weekend wasn't that wonderful but for some reason I still enjoyed it (even at 6months pregnant and sleeping on a self inflating mattress). We arrived on the Friday night and luckily enough it stopped raining just for us to put the tent up (Mum & Dad had their caravan).... Unfortunately on Saturday it just didn't give up so we went into the little town near by & had morning tea & some sight seeing (in the car LOL) then spent most of the day in the caravan playing games, about 5 o'clock I thought I better go and get Mr 3 bed ready in the tent... Holey Moley the tent was flooded, with the way the wind was swirling & the rain falling it really wasn't a surprise but EVERYTHING was wet, mattress's, sleeping bags, pillows were dripping with water, even Mr 3's Kiki the Koala was wet. So what to do now as there was no way we could sleep in the tent as you had to wade through the water to even get to the soaking beds.... A solution was found, we would all try and bunk in the Caravan. Dad very nicely gave up his bed for pregnant me, Mr 3 & Gramps (my dad) got the couch mattress's on the floor and Hubby somehow slept in the car. I don't any of us really sleep, but it is a story to tell LOL...

Anyway back to the dogs. My friend and her daughter feed them for us as it was a 'no dog' campsite so as a thank-you I made them both a gorgeous beaded necklace (forgot to take photo, whoops) and  cute little jewellery boxes to put them in.

30 card order, post 1 of 3

My lovely Uncle contacted me the other day and asked me to make 30 generic cards... I was very excited, but once I sat down and thought about it, 30 generic cards was going to be hard. He wanted them so he could used them for any occasion, more females than male designes...

I thought a fair bit about it and then emailed him back with what I was going to do,  I would make each set of 3 with same cardstock and stampsets etc but each card will have a different layout.

Here are the Male cards first:

Thanks Mum and Dad

My Mum & Dad had Mr 3 for 10days to give us a break.... it was lovely, I was planning on getting alot of craft done but instead just sat & watch TV & caught up on some much needed sleep :-)

I did do a little bit of craft, which was this box of Christmas goodies for Mum & Dad as a Thank-You gift. Mum loves her tags and I know she loves to give a special card to the special people in her life (instead of just the cheap packet ones) so instead of giving her something that won't be used or they already have, I decided to make this box of Christmas Cards and Tags for them to use at Christmas. They can also re-use the box for a present.

I have made the box to fit 25 x Tags, 5 x Christmas Cards. The box also has a hinge lid. You wouldn't believe how much cardstock I went through to get this right, all up I had to 'break' the box up into 3 different stages and then put them altogether, also because I am such a neat freak I didn't want to be able to see all the joins so I need more cardstock to cover it. Let me just say, it was hard to part with it LOL

Mum loved it...Dad, I am sure he did too LOL!!!

I don't remember everything I have used but I am sure you can figure it. If not, leave me a message and I will find out for you.

Explosion EXPLOSION!!!

While I was up in Perth for the WA Stampin' Up! Regionals one of our Mechanics celebrated his engagement. Unfortunately regionals was booked beforehand so I couldn't go but Hubby went and helped him celebrate.

They are in the mist of renovating their house so we thought a local Mitre 10 voucher would come in very handy.

A voucher on its own doesn't look very attractive though so to jazz it up I decided to make an EXPLOSION BOX. I did a bit of research via blurffing and googling explosion boxes but at the end of the day I just made it up.

Box and card together...
Card was made for a Just Add Ink challenge and you can see card details here.

It was really hard to photograph the box open but here it is.

All the hearts are on window sheets and bounce around when open, just really hard to see in the photo.

Inks: Stamp pad (Basic Black)

My regional swaps...

By popular demand (hee hee), here are the swaps I made for the WA Stampin' Up! Regionals held last weekend in Perth.

I have never been to a regionals before as living in the Northern Territory we didn't get them, they did do a survey while I was up there too see who would be interesting in going to Darwin, unfortunately for me it was either a $450 return flight or 10hrs on a dirt track then another 5 hrs on the Hwy so not really viable for us.
As soon as the WA applications opened I was registered and so very excited to met other Stampin' Up! Demo's.

Well the day didn't disappoint. We first started by arriving and reciving our packs. Then we got to mingle with everyone and swap our cards...Thank you to all the ladies I swapped with, excellent idea's, everyone made such an effort and I have come away with idea's I have never thought of.

During the morning we were given presentations and examples from both SU headoffice demo's and also local WA demo's. All fabulous idea's and great presentations, definately a few laughs had as well.
After lunch we attacked our Make & Takes with the stamp-set we received. I didn't get them all done as I was busy socialising but all ok because I can finish them at home.

I was lucky enough to sit on a table with my upline, Lisa, my downline Nicole, 2 of Lisa's downlines and a new friend Shannon who I have 'chatted' to through FB page but had never met. Thanks lovely ladies for making our table fun and exciting.

Now after all that babbling here are my 2 swaps, I made 2 due to lack of cardstock but alot of the swaps I received where front of cards only, which is a great idea and doesn't use up as much cardstock:

There is a few 'firsts' on this card
-First time I have used my medallion stamp on a card
-New DSP & Ribbon
-First time I have used this techinque: paper curling

I have also thought it would really nice with a touch of shimmer paint on the edges of the medallion stamp but I didn't have the patience to do 25 of them so they went without.

Stampset: Medallion

Card Stock: Blushing Bride, Whisper White, DSP Just Add Cake

Inks: Blushing Bride Stamp Pad

Accessories: Subtles Buttons, 1.3cm Scallop Dots Choc Chip Ribbon, Snail, Sticky Strip, Glue Dots

This next one I challenged myself, I am hopeless at making my own punch art, most of the punch art I do is CASE'd from someone else. This time I wanted to do my own and make an Aussie Christmas card...

I went and found Master 3's favourite cuddly toy, which is called Kiki the Koala and well I supposed I CASE'd the card from him, what do you think, pretty cute hey. I am very proud of myself (am I allowed to blow my own horn???)
Stamp Set: Comtempo Christmas

Card Stock: Real Red, Wild Wisabi, Basic Grey, Sahara Sand, Basic Black, Whisper White

Inks: Real Red, Basic Grey, Sahara Sand Stamp Pad

Big Shot: Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Little leaves Sizzlits

Next was babies!

It must be baby season again!

Here are 3 cards, 2 boys and one girl....I have used alot of retired items on these cards so won't go into details but if you want any details please leave me a message.

Hope they are some inspiration to you, as I am starting to run out of idea's... please let me know if you have any baby idea's as I have many more to make before the end of this year!

This one is for a wonderful family who had a very hard time last year having given birth to a sleeping baby girl. This year they have welcomed a gorgeous little boy and I couldn't help but use the words "one little baby, many happy hearts".

I have added crystal effects to the little suit, it finishes of the cards nicely!

Another little boy, joining his big brother. I just love this card, cased it from my own card :-) but used different trees!

And lastly a little GIRL (seems to be more boys then girls at the moment whats going on?).

After making 2 men cards and then 2 baby boy cards, I really had to go all pinky and girly!

I love it!!!

Thanks for popping by!

Percy Train Cake

Just thought I would show you all some photos of Master 3's birthday cake.

He wanted the train cake from the Woman's Weekly cake book but "Percy please mummy" so this is what I came up with:

Master 3 and his best mate, all smiles coz Percy looks GREAT *Wink*
Best Mate conducting the happy birthday singing, Master 3 waiting patiently to blow out the candles!!!

Thats all for now... no craft to show... mojo has disappeared, I am a neat freak and currently have 4 projects all half done but can't be bother finishing them... maybe soon :-(
