Birthday Wishes!!!

Thank you to all the gorgeous people that wished me Happy Birthday a few weeks back, I had a lovely relaxing day, I decided no washing or cleaning or shopping just good 'ole relaxing, even Mr 2 went with the flow which was lovely.

Now I had a couple of lovely people send me handmade cards, which I adore:
First THANK YOU Lynda for this gorgeous card. We met through an online fundraiser late last year and have continued our "online" friendship on Crafter's Anonymous and Facebook. We are yet to met as we both live at totally opposite sides of Australia but hopefully one day we can craft together. Lynda has done an awesome job using one of my fav (and first ever) SU stampsets which is now unfortunately retired but I still have mine stashed away. She has also got me thinking about pulling out the crimper again...soon.... ______________________________________________

These next two cards are from my Sis-in-law, she always sends a lovely homemade card for all our birthday, it just makes it all the more specials, Thanks Julie :-)

Well here is a picture of my cake that Mr 2 and I made to take to the Mechanics at work.. Mr 2 has a favourite book, this book goes everywhere, he sleeps with it, it comes in the car, it goes to school (daycare)... what is the book, The Womans Weekly Animal Cake Decorating Book. He was very determind that Mummy was having a "LaaaadyDird Date" (ladybird cake for all of us that don't speak 2yr old)... Weren't the Mechanics lucky to get such a girly cake a work *smiles*... and don't you just love the look my apprentice chef is making in the back ground.

Dragon, Fish & a Racing Car

What does a Dragon, Fish & a Racing Car all have in common ....

Being on the front of a Child's birthday card *smile*

Now this first very awesome card was cased from the lovely Helen over in NZ.

What cutie of a dragon, I have made the card square 12cmx12cm and added some paper piercing but otherwise the dragon is pretty much the same as Helen's. ________________________________________________

This next card is a case from the happy and gorgeous Madonna Dunn. She made her cards as invitations for her son but what a great birthday card to give to a fisherman (well a fish enthusiast)!

Now for the last card, I am sure you can all guess who the racing car is supposed to be... I am not an artist and well can't do shading so hence the (as my hubby put it) "a stretch limo been squashed with a lightning stripe down the side" ... anyway my nearly 3yr old knew straight away who it was and thats the opinion that counts as we were giving it to his little mate.

It is sort of punch art with ALOT of modifications *smile*

Playing & creating with a friend

I had a friend come and visit with her hubby and two kiddies the other week and stayed the weekend. It was lovely, we hadn't really caught up with each other for about 4yrs so the catch up was very special ...

Anyway being the good mothers we are we left the children outside with their dads and decided it was MUM TIME in the craftroom ... WOO HOO

My friend hadn't really stamped before and she wanted to make 3 cards. A card for her sister who was due any day with a little girl, one for her son who was about to turn 4 and one for her soon to be 2 yr old girl.

These two cards she made herself (with a little guidence):

By the time we got to the 3rd card the children were getting hungry, so my friend decided to go and organise her kids for dinner and while she was doing that I whipped up this card for her little 2yr old girl for her.

50th Dress up

Over the weekend we joined some lovely family and friends and celebrated a 50th Birthday. It was a dress up theme, over 50's school kids, under 50's geriatrics. It was a fun night with games and heaps of laughs, unfortunately Mr 2 had decided that morning to get up at 4.55am and didn't really have a good day sleep so we ended up leaving the party early and missed out on the wonderful and fantastically decortated cake (decorated by a daughter of the birthday girl). Luckily we were staying at their house so got a slice the next day....

Anyway enough babble, I really didn't know what to get for a present so I decided to make a cute box with 20 'gift' cards, well they were supposed to be gift cards but ended up 10x10cm so not that small after all. There was 4 different designs and 5 of each. I then made a matching box to hold a 9 pack of Ferrero Roches (sp)

Our new Business

While I am waiting for a few craft gifts to arrive at their choosen destinations before I can blog about them, I thought I would share with you a picture of our new Business.

We took over on the 21st Feb and it has been a very busy 3 months, but definately well worth it.

It is an extremely clean and tidy workshop. The shed was only built about 2-3years ago so everything is nice a new.

2yr old creations

My sweet 2 yr old has decided "I do painting too mummy?" as I was creating one day, I explained to him they were stamps "Oh Stumps Mummy, mine?" so after I had a bit of a chuckle I decided that he can 'help' me make some goodies.

The first card was just a practice run and a card made just for him, he has it sitting on his bedside table.

He first stamped the monkey from Fox & Friends on his cardstock...but then mummy had an idea, ages ago I was in another (non SU) shop and found a cute Train die and as I have the Big Shot machine from Stampin' Up! I knew I would be able to use it. Mr 2 choose the colours and rolled the Big Shot, while mummy glued it altogether, here is the finished product:

This next card was a card made for Mr 2's Uncle. He first choose his stamps, my very new Choo Choo set (first time it got to see ink) and then he choose his colours, he stamped all over the whisper white cardstock, and again mummy put some finishing touches and glued it altogether. Here is the finished product:

Not a bad joint effort hey :-)

Whats in my Drawers???

I also would like to share with you all the goodies I am able to fit in my new drawers.

I have 2 sets of these drawers, one under the craftdesk (check out pictures) and then one under the stampsets, this is full of DSP, Circle Scissor Plus, Box Templates etc so I didn't take any photos...

Top 2 drawers have hole punches and Stampin' Writes in them - I have mainly the new design punches but I have a couple old designs and they fit perfectly in the drawers as well:
Next drawer is actually empty (maybe room for some more goodies *smiles*)

4th drawer has Powder Pals, Crimper, Heat Gun, Brayer & Stamp-a-ma-jig:
5th drawer has all my roller wheels, small and Jumbo, they are stored in their plastic boxes and fit nicely in the drawers:

The last drawer is full of Bigshot goodies - my favourite drawer :o)

Craft room Tour - at last!!!

It's finally here, my craft room tour.

My sweetest husband, Steve, has only just finished putting the last bits together for me including the child safety gate... my 2 year old is now at the understanding that you DON'T touch mummy's craft stuff but you just never know when other little fingers will be around so better to be safe than sorry.

I was promised when we left the Northern Territory I would be allowed to choose what sort of desk I needed (*wanted*) for all my craft as before I had off cuts of all sorts of wood to make my desk usable (and with a very craft husband it wasn't too bad at all) so I had a few idea's in mind UNFORTUNATLY we had to rent a house so I really needed something easily movable and also something that could be used for other things depending on where we were living. So where did I go shopping... IKEA of course. Now what I got wasn't really what I was after but with it being 1/3 of the normal price we decided Steve (yep not me but Steve) could make it work and I LOVE IT... It is awesome and so very very versitle I could put it anywhere, with all sorts of different designs and it would fit in and work so well.

I have also made a few other little purchases, ribbon rack from Craftainers, cane baskets from K-Mart, office chairs from Harvey Norman and child safety gate from Target.

Hope you all enjoy the tour and if you have any questions on the furniture etc please leave a message.

xxx Katie

PS I have tried my hardest to do a video but I just can't get it to work so might need to invest in a different video program. If you want to view a video you can see it on Facebook!/video/video.php?v=10150168715928595&oid=166624910043088&comments

Here are some pictures instead!

This picture is looking from Toyroom area into craft space:

Looking from different angle:

My nice BIG (and currently tidy) desk:

I keep all my colour family card stock in folders, I have a plastic protector sheet for 1 packet of colour and I also have a protector sheet for each colours scraps. That way I don't forget to use the scraps up:

My new ribbon holders, they have doors that close up and you can take them with you without the ribbons getting all messy:
